Camping in nature with a dog
Camping is one of the most dog-friendly accommodations that exist — space, nature, and freedom.

Why camping is ideal with a dog

Camping is probably the most suitable type of accommodation for dogs. No carpet to protect, no room neighbors, space and nature. The majority of French campgrounds accept dogs — about 80% according to estimates.

Criterion #1: edge pitch

Request a campground edge pitch, near a path or green space. Less traffic, fewer encounters with other dogs, and quick access for nighttime potty breaks. Many campgrounds offer this if you request it when booking.

Tent, mobile home or van: which accommodation?

Tent
Maximum freedom. The dog sleeps with you. Get a tent large enough for their bedding.
Mobile home
Comfort + terrace. Check that the dog is allowed inside (not always the case).
Van / RV
Your mobile home. The dog already knows the space. The most flexible solution.

Frequently asked questions

Can my dog go in the campground pool?

No. No campground allows dogs in the pool or on the pool deck. It's a hygiene issue regulated by the ARS. Find a lake or river nearby for your dog to swim.

Can I leave my dog alone at the pitch?

Strongly discouraged and often forbidden by internal regulations. A dog alone at the campground can bark, escape, or be stressed. If you must leave, ask a camping neighbor to watch them or take turns going out.

How many dogs can we bring?

Most campgrounds limit to 1 dog per pitch. Some accept 2, but the supplement is per animal. Check when booking. Nature and farm campgrounds are often more flexible.

Camping is happiness for our dog. They spend their days outside, make dog friends, and in the evening they fall asleep in the tent in 2 minutes. The best accommodation.
